It was freezing up yesterday, so I quit at level 2.5; when I came back today, even though I erased ALL cookies (used CCleaner last night), it remembered me (from IP, obviously) and let me resume from where I left off

You may also try www.deathstarbattle.com. It's zone which uses a 2D game client called Continuum which started out as Subspace. It gives you access to many different zones that use the game client, and Deathstar Battle is probably the most popular one. It's the only one I like. It was created in like 1996 or something and it hasn't been changed much.
But this one, too, is like crack.
